Hi I'm new here was sent over here from some ladies in the Dragon Con costume club group on Facebook. I haven't actually started working on my corset yet. I'm still researching it. I'm fairly new to sewing as well. I was just wanting some input on my plan. :) I am planing on making a dress form from paper tape so it will help me a lil ( hope). I also want to try to make a custom design corset. (crazy for a complete noobie I know) I am really bad at drawing anything witch makes putting my idea to paper super hard. But this is how I'm hoping it will end up looking like. I want to make an over bust corset that kinda looks like a tank top but with a square/straight front, not dipped( kinda hard to explain) I want to have it zip up the front instead of the hook busk thingy. and only zip up to just under the bust or a lil more not sure what would be best. Then, from there up I want to have it laced a lil. (more for looks then actually holding the girls in. hope I'm making a good visual) Then I want the bottom straight across at the hip level. I'm hoping I can make a mock up outta some really cheep fabric and industrial strength cable ties.( will be using steel and spiral steel for the real corset). Last but not least, I'd also like to have very few panels if that makes since. I don't want six on each side maybe four or three. So my question after all that would be what is the best way to go about making it. or Any tips ideas on making the pattern would be wonderful. And if you just have anything to add or if I missed anything would be great help. :) oh yea and I'm not really worried about it taking my waist in too to much. I just want a nice shape.
