New Corset Design

Hi All,

its been a while since i posted anything so thought i would share a new corset design ive been working on! This one is called 'Inkheart' and will be available soon to
order through my Etsy shop!

The construction method was a single layer of coutil, with the blue satin fused to the coutil with heatbond fusing. This worked really well and made for a very sturdy fabric. The black heart is satin coutil and is fused on top of the satin, so it is double layered on the heart part.

The outer casings are made from satin coutil and I used spiral steels through, except for spring steel next to the busk and at the back to support the eyelets.
First I cut and fused all the pieces, then marked out my heart shape, cut and fused that and sewed all the panels together. I then applied my lace to the inside of the heart, added the busk, eyelets and bone casings.

I added a lining and then flossed and bound the corset to finish.

Overall I am pretty happy with the outcome, there is hardly any bubbling with the fused fabric (a problem i have encountered before!) and fusing everything together ment i saved time worrying about turn of cloth. The only drawback was that it was very stiff and therefore difficult to sew, also, I used steam, once and only once, as I discovered that it made the glue of the fusing contract and wrinkle the fabric! Agrhh won’t do that again! On the plus side it ment that the corset held its shape really well, even before boning.
I used a black busk and black eyelets for this corset, bought from Vena Cava in the UK, and I’m really happy with the look, I think its adds a little gothy type feel and looks a lot more co-ordinated J

Overall pretty happy with everything, looking forward to having a photo shoot with this one, and seeing what it looks like on a real body!
