Overbust corset pattern drafting
Hello out there!

This community has been an invaluable source of information for me over a few years now, although this is my first time actually making a post (that I can recall, at least). I have a question for all of you wonderfully talented people out there. Is there an online guide or tutorial for drafting your own Victorian overbust patterns? I've looked all over and have yet to come up with anything. I've done a few underbusts now, and feel confident in my drafting, but I am timid about attacking the overbusts now.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a tutorial on Your Wardrobe Unlock'd and Cathy Hay is also working a new, more dynamic drafting tutorial which may end up being available either free on LJ or through YWU's new sister site Foundations Revealed. Both online magazines are subscription services, but the pattern drafting tutorial on YWU is a really brilliant learning tool and I expect the new one will be also :-)

For reference, when I first began learning corsetry, I produced the bronze overbust in my icon using the tutorial from YWU as a starting point (which I then altered and altered again after the toile).

That's not a great one, but it's better than nothing. I do like that you start out with a fitted shell. You will need to reduce the measurements by your desired amount for each dimension, but it starts out as a nice framework.
